The build work absorbed all deep work capacity. Gumroad is admin not deep work — it was consistently deprioritised in favour of the more engaging build tasks. The gap isn't about time, it's about task sequencing preference...

Values Architecture
Coaching series Layer · ACT-based values clarification · Sits above the Annual Blueprint · Reviewed annually or when direction is unclear
🧭
About this tool
Not a goal-setting worksheet. The actual methodology: what do you want your life to stand for? ACT values work distinguishes between values (directions) and goals (destinations). This page is your compass. Everything above in the cascade derives from it.
Your Core Values
🏗️
Build
Create things that last.
Products, businesses, skills. Leave something that works when you're not in the room.
🛡️
Protect
Provide without compromise.
Financial security. Presence. The kind of father and partner that's actually there.
Perform
Work at the edge of capacity.
Physical and mental. The discipline that compounds.
Cascade Check
Do your current Annual goals map to these values? Are your daily priorities moving in a values-consistent direction?

Stoic Library
The philosophy behind the system · 7 rotating daily prompts + extended library · Add your own
📖
The Stoic tradition is built on one question: what is within your control? These prompts are not affirmations — they are directives. Each one asks you to act, not feel. They rotate through the week. Saturday and Sunday use fixed prompts matched to recovery and preparation.
The 7 Daily Prompts
MON"What is within my control today?" — Epictetus, Discourses 1.1
My interpretation
The quality of my attention today. Whether I respond or react. The standards I hold my work to regardless of outcomes...
TUE"Does this serve my purpose, or merely distract?" — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 4.3
WED"Act. Don't react." — Epictetus, Enchiridion 20
THU"What would the man I want to become do today?" — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 10.16
FRI"Finish what deserves to be finished." — Seneca, Letters 77
SAT"Rest is not idleness. Recovery is work." — Seneca, Letters 82
SUN"Prepare tomorrow's priorities tonight." — Ivy Lee Method

🗺️
This is the architectural overview of the entire OS. Every database, every connection, every zone. When you're not sure where something lives or how it connects to everything else — start here.
Where to Start — The Four Phases
The OS is fully capable from day one but deliberately withholds complexity until you need it. Follow these phases in order. Each unlocks the next.
PHASE 01
The Daily Ritual
Days 1–14 · 10 min/day
The daily habit is the foundation everything else is built on. Nothing in the OS works without this running consistently. Two weeks before you add anything else.
Do this
🟧 Open Hub every morning
🟧 Create today's Daily Focus entry
🟧 Write Priority 01, 02, 03 — in order
🟧 Write the Must Not Do list
🟧 Read the Stoic prompt. One sentence response.
🟧 Time-block your day in the grid
🟧 Score the day /10 in the evening
🟧 Write tomorrow's three priorities tonight
Ignore for now

Zones 3, 4, 5
Ivy Lee rule: Work P01 to completion before touching P02. If P01 isn't done at day end, tick Carry Forward and it becomes tomorrow's P01. Do not reorder the list mid-day. The discipline is the point.
PHASE 02
The Weekly Rhythm
Weeks 2–4 · 30 min/week
The daily ritual tells you what to do today. The weekly rhythm tells you whether today's work is moving the right things. Add this only once the daily habit is solid — running it before the habit is established just adds friction without benefit.
Do this — every Sunday evening
📥 Open Quick Capture inbox — clear it

Habit Stack
Values Architecture
Monthly Review
Pattern Dashboard
Zones 3, 4, 5
GTD rule: The weekly review is not optional. David Allen calls it the most important 30 minutes of the week. Skip it and the daily system becomes a disconnected to-do list. Run it and every daily priority becomes intentional.
PHASE 03
The Compound Layer
Month 2–3 · Adds depth
Once daily and weekly are running automatically, you have the capacity to add the longer-horizon tools. This is where the OS becomes genuinely powerful — your daily priorities start connecting all the way back to annual goals and values. Don't add all of these at once. Add one at a time, in the order listed.
Add in this order
1. Annual Blueprint — set your year
2. Projects DB13 — name active projects
3. Values Architecture — above everything
4. Habit Stack — two habits max to start
5. Strength Log — if training is a priority
6. Net Worth Tracker — monthly snapshot
7. Pattern Dashboard — run after 4 weeks data
What this unlocks
Daily P01 traces back to annual goal
Projects visible on Hub alongside priorities
Values above the Annual Blueprint
Habits linked to daily entries automatically
Physical performance tracked end-to-end
Financial direction set quarterly
Data tells you how you actually work
The cascade becomes real here. Once Values Architecture is filled in and Annual Blueprint is set, open any daily priority and trace it upward: P01 → Project → 90-Day Goal → Annual Goal → Value. If the trace breaks anywhere, something is misaligned. Fix the goal, not the priority.
PHASE 04
The Depth Layer
Month 3+ · As needed · Never forced
The Professional, Coaching, and Resilience series are not habitual — they activate for specific situations. Professional opens when a career event requires it. Coaching opens when the surface-level system isn't enough. Resilience opens when things get hard. None of these should be part of a daily routine. They exist to be there when you need them.
Professional series
Open when: new role, interview, promotion conversation, important meeting.

Tools: Interview Prep, Career Map, Promotion Case Builder, New Job 90-Day, Meeting Mastery.

Close when: event is done. Archive the page.
Coaching series
Open when: you know what to do but aren't doing it. Gap between intention and action. Direction feels unclear.

Tools: Weekly Debrief (MI), Accountability Framework, GROW Sessions.

Feeds back into: Weekly Review and Goals.
Resilience series
Open when: major life transition. Redundancy, health event, divorce, turning 40.

Activate Transition Mode in Settings. The daily ritual continues underneath — the daily ritual is the anchor, not a casualty.

Close when: transition complete. Run Transition Close page.
The most common mistake: opening the Coaching or Resilience series before Phases 1–3 are established. If your daily habit isn't solid, no amount of values clarification or resilience auditing will help. The depth layer only works when there's a daily structure underneath it to return to.

Reading the diagram: Solid arrows show primary cascade flow — data moves through these connections automatically. Dashed arrows show cross-zone relations — optional links that add intelligence. Nodes with no arrows are static reference pages — open them to read and use their frameworks, but they don't connect to other databases through Notion relations. This is intentional. Not everything needs to be a linked database.

The amber pulsing circle marks the Daily Focus Sheet — the entry point for every user. Everything else in the OS either feeds into it or builds on what it produces.

Ivy Lee · 1918The Ivy Lee Method→ Daily Focus Sheet priorities
At the end of each day, write down the three most important tasks for tomorrow in order of importance. Start with task one. Work until it is complete before moving to task two. Whatever remains carries to the next list. Repeat without exception.

Why three, not six: Lee's original used six. Groundwork uses three because six encourages overcommitment — the illusion of a plan rather than a real choice. Three forces the actual question: what matters most today?
In the OS — DB01
P01 (amber callout), P02, P03. P01 Status field (Done/Partial/Carried). Carry Forward toggle. Evening: write tomorrow's three before sleep.
Allen · 2001Getting Things Done (GTD)→ Brain Dump · Quick Capture · Weekly Review
The brain is for having ideas, not holding them. GTD's insight: cognitive load from open loops — uncommitted thoughts, unprocessed tasks, vague intentions — degrades attention quality. Externalise everything into a trusted system. Process it regularly. Work from the system, not from memory.

The five steps: Capture → Clarify → Organise → Reflect → Engage. The Weekly Review is GTD's Reflect step — the most important and most skipped.
In the OS — DB04 + DB02
Quick Capture inbox on Hub. Brain Dump page. Weekly Review brain dump processing section. Someday/Maybe and Waiting For views.
Newport · 2016Deep Work→ Deep Work Planner · Time blocks
Deep work is professional activity performed in a state of distraction-free concentration that pushes cognitive capability to its limit. It produces value that shallow work cannot. The ability to perform deep work is becoming rare and increasingly valuable.

The core practice: Schedule specific deep work blocks. Define one deliverable per session before starting. Remove all distractions in advance. Track hours weekly — the number is diagnostic.
In the OS — DB03
Deep Work Planner database. Single deliverable field. Distraction removal log. Session debrief. Daily deep work hours field in DB01. Pattern Dashboard 4-week trend.
Clear · 2018Atomic Habits→ Habit Stack Builder
Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement. The key insight: every habit is built on a cue-routine-reward loop. Identity is the lever — you don't build habits by setting goals, you build them by deciding what kind of person you want to be and casting votes for that identity every day.

Habit stacking: anchor new habits to existing ones using the formula "After I [current habit], I will [new habit]." This is why the Habit Stack Builder asks for a stack position — AM routine, work start, post-workout, PM routine.
In the OS — DB08
Habit Stack Builder. Cue, Routine, Reward fields. Stack Position. Identity statement per habit. Streak tracking. Links to DB01 daily completions.
Hayes · 2005ACT — Acceptance & Commitment→ Values Architecture
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy distinguishes between values (directions) and goals (destinations). Values are never completed — they describe how you want to move through life. Goals are milestones along that direction. The Values Architecture tool runs ACT's values clarification process and feeds its outputs into every level of the Cascade.

The key question: "What do you want your life to stand for?" Not what do you want to achieve — what do you want to be about?
In the OS — Coaching
Values Architecture static page. Cascade check — every annual goal maps to a named value. Reviewed annually or when direction feels unclear.

Steven Southwick's research identified ten factors that distinguish people who recover from adversity from those who don't. Resilience isn't a fixed trait — it's a set of capacities that can be assessed, developed, and strengthened before they're needed. The Resilience Audit uses his framework to identify where you're strong and where you're brittle.

Kobasa's hardiness: Commitment, Control, and Challenge — the three components of psychological hardiness that predict how people respond under sustained pressure.
In the OS — Resilience
Resilience Audit (10-factor assessment). Transition Intelligence Kit. Pressure Response Journal (PTG methodology). 90-Day Debrief. Activates when Transition Mode is on.

Cascade
The connected hierarchy: Values → Annual → 90-Day → Monthly → Weekly → Daily. Every level feeds the one below it.
Hub · System Map
Open Loop
Any uncommitted thought, unprocessed task, or vague intention not yet in the system. Cognitive load source. Cleared by capture.
Brain Dump · Hub
P01
Priority One. The single most important task today. Worked to completion before P02 begins. Tracked by P01 Status field in DB01.
DB01 · Hub
Carry Forward
When P01 is incomplete at day end it becomes tomorrow's P01. Not a failure — a commitment. The core Ivy Lee mechanism.
DB01
Goal Drift
A 90-Day goal where no daily entries have linked to it for 7+ days. Flagged automatically in the Pattern Dashboard as "Drifting".
Dashboard · DB05
Transition Mode
Resilience activation state. When on, Hub foregrounds Resilience tools. Daily daily ritual continues underneath — it is the anchor, not a casualty.

Deep Work
Cal Newport's term. Distraction-free focused work that pushes cognitive limits. Tracked daily in DB01. Weekly total visible in Pattern Dashboard.

Groundwork Principle
"Structure over inspiration. The system works when you use it, not when you design it. Start today."

Projects
DB13 · The missing layer between 90-Day Goals and daily priorities · One project = one deliverable with a deadline

📐 The distinction
A Goal is an outcome. A Project is a deliverable. "Launch ForgeVantage" is a goal. "Build Etsy listings" is a project.
📁
What belongs here
Any piece of work with a defined end state, a deadline, and more than one action step. A project lives below a 90-Day Goal and above your daily priorities. When you write a daily P01, it should link to a project here. When a project completes, it links back to mark progress on its parent goal.

The full hierarchy: Values Architecture → Annual Blueprint → 90-Day Goals → Projects → Daily Priorities → Deep Work Sessions.
Every daily P01 should link to a project. Every project links to a 90-Day goal. Every goal links to an annual outcome. Every annual outcome maps to a value. The cascade is now complete end-to-end.

📎
Zone Notes
Reference material, useful links, and working notes organised by zone. Lightweight — not a second brain. Drop things here that don't fit elsewhere.
📎
This page is a light reference layer, not a full knowledge base. Each zone has its own toggle section. Drop links, resources, and working notes relevant to that zone's tools here. Reviewed monthly — anything not referenced in 60 days gets discarded or moved.
Daily Engine
Working note: Stoic prompts currently repeat weekly — expand to 28-day rotation in v1.1 update. Source material: Meditations, Enchiridion, Letters.
Professional series
Note: Professional series tools activate for specific career events. When a project like "Interview prep" opens in DB13, relevant reference material from here should be linked directly into the project page.
Resilience series
Transition Mode
If the Resilience series is activated, this section becomes the primary reference hub. Add any transition-specific contacts, documents, or resources here during the transition period.
